Computer wiring harnesses are classified into different types based on their uses. The interfaces and wire gauges of each type of wiring harness are designed specifically:
Power supply type: such as ATX power supply wiring harnesses (24-pin power supply for the motherboard, 4/8-pin power supply for the CPU, 6/8-pin power supply for the graphics card), with thicker wires to carry large currents.
Data type: such as SATA wiring harnesses (connecting hard drives / optical drives to the motherboard), PCIe wiring harnesses (for data transmission of graphics cards), and front panel wiring harnesses (for power-on button, reset button, indicator lights, etc.).
